The funny things breeders say !
"We breed only the 'True Schnoodle " or the "true Maltipoo " ........haha !
Have you ever seen this in a breeder ad ? Well ,I have and all the time .
I have to inform you that a cross is a cross .Whether it be a first generation or a second generation ,third generation
,it is still a Schnoodle ,Yorkiepoo ,Maltipoo or other .A cross is considered a cross until they become a purebred and that
is a long time down in generations and then guess what ?
The dog is then renamed and it is no longer a Maltipoo,Schnoodle ,Yorkiepoo ,Yorkiechon or any other cross name .
So ,this is what a crossbreed is .
First generation ......Purebred to purebred
Second generation ....1st generation to first generation
(In this category you can also have the 1st generation to a purebred ,but this is done more for increasing look than
anything else ,it is still a cross and is in the second generation category ,although you cannot use it to do a third generation
)
Now when you get to third generation ,it is a second generation to second generation of only say maltipoo to maltipoo
or schnoodle to schnoodle of second generation .
After that ,you get closer to a pure breed and more than apt would begin the process of name change .So the true schnoodle
,maltipoo ,yorkiepoo is no longer a cross .....
breeders constantly find phrases and words to try and use as a sales gimmick .Please watch for these phrases
NEW BREED ( not a breed ,this is a cross )
TRUE CROSS ( it is a cross ,not a "true ' of anything )
IN PROCESS OF BECOMING A BREED ( 50 yrs from now ,maybe )
REGISTERED ...(AKC does not register crossbreeds ,CkC ,DRA and a few others do ,but the paperwork
in any registry is only as good as the breeder ,be careful there are those that register a maltese/cocker/poodle cross
as a Maltipoo ,it is not one and never will be )
STANDARDS ARE ....( no cross can have standards set ,no two in the same litter can or always
have the same coat ,weight ,height ,nose length or other ,Standards cannot be set as there is no way to do that )
Again watch for these phrases and more ,breeders that are honest will tell you the truth .
Breeding a cross means a healthier and less genetic problems if bred correctly ,weights ,coats ,heights all vary
and "hybrid vigor ' means more robust (larger )
so if a breeder is breeding 'down in size ' more than apt they are breeding runt to runt ,using somthing to make the
puppies smaller ,this is not why a breeder would breed a cross .A good crossbreeder breeds to get more healthy ,robust ,more
genectically sound puppies ,not to get premies with health problems ,so please be careful about the breeder you choose as
the puppy you get is for life !
